In late 2009 James & John Ansell established a motorcycle salvage company based in Gloucester. Both have been involved mainly in four wheels but have always been passionate about 2 wheels that started many years ago when they were under 10 in the UK Mini-Motto Championships racing all over the country including Scotland, racing with the likes of Leon Haslam, Chas Davies and the late and sadly missed Craig Jones. From there they went on to race with North Glos Road Racing in the 400 classes accumulating with a win at Cadwell Park, a first time ride in an ambulance plus a new set of leathers at Donington Park. James is hoping to return to the track in 2011 with North Glos upon his faithful VFR400 NC30 which has gone through significant improvements during his time away from the track to hopefully allow him to run up the front, as before.

The business was started with around 10 bikes, consisting of Damaged / Repairable Salvage. As they progressed it generated Part Exchanges and a successful negotiation in acquiring End Of Contract motorcycles and the chance to go into the used parts side of the industry, for scooters & motorcycles of all makes and models. Due to the growth, both mother and father came on board making it a true family business together with two additional staff and the potential to add others. Within six months VAT came into the equation and LTD status was achieved. It now comprises of over 250 bikes and thousands of spares, growing as each day goes by.

We have recently been approved as Gloucester's latest AUTHORISED MOTORCYCLE TREATMENT FACILITY [ATF] working with the environment to ensure full compliancy when looking after today's massively increasing recycling industry where if done correctly, benefits all. With this licence in place and our excellent reputation for offering our 24/7 exclusive service to the Insurance Sector for the disposal of their motorcycle salvage we are being asked to consider more and more contracts. Frightening! But Exciting! Says James who runs the parts and dismantling side. With there being a tremendous volume of Chinese makes and models on the road, we can cater for all these types when it comes to used parts instead of waiting for new parts from manufacturers that can take weeks if not months too arrive and apart from that, save money!

More recently we have assisted Worcester College in sponsoring them with motorcycles for various tasks for students wishing to take up working with 2 wheels and will shortly supply a couple of free loan motorcycles to another fairly new family business: MANTRA MOTORCYCLES of GLOUCESTER who look after other aspects of our industry including servicing, MOT's and repairs on all types of motorcycles so they to can improve on their already very good service they offer.

John who looks after the motorcycle sales of the business, 'As with all new businesses it's a seven day week operation and although in the last year or so it's not the ideal time to start a fresh, new operation, hard work and dedication does prevail and the rewards will be there. At present we plough all revenue back into the Company, allowing us to be fully compliant and professional. We have also had the assistance of various sections of Business Link and especially Anne Green of ANNE GREEN LLP who has been a tremendous help to mum, dad, Peter & Judith on the accounts and management side of things and when it's your first time in business, you need someone who has had the experience of starting and running new businesses, especially when it comes to staffing, day too day issues and legalities.

On the future, we wish to get involved more locally, especially with Government cutbacks being a major talking point at present in assisting with the likes of Bike Safety and Educational Authorities to ensure everyone has the opportunity to benefit and learn by our success in the supply of machines and information. In 2011 we intend to be more prominent in being involving with shows and demonstrations and the possibility of setting up other outlets within our company with even 'Franchise' becoming available especially on the used part side. Also coming shortly we will be working closely with GLOUCESTER COATING who will be able to look after all aspects of Shot Blasting & Powder Coating, whether it be singular items or multiple orders.

Meantime it's: 24/7 in assisting others whether it be; Insurance, Accident & Personal Injury, Parts, Sales or Salvage related or just a plain old chinwag and advice on motorcycle matters, we are here to help, not hinder. If we don't know it, we'll be sure to know someone who will. Here's to 2011.
